There are plenty of activities on offer for you to get out and explore the beauty of the Coromandel. You can visit the incredible Cathedral Cove either by boat or kayak with local guides who can explain the cultural and historical significance of the sites you will be exploring within the marine reserve.
Make sure you have your camera ready as you won’t want to miss the natural beauty you see before you. You even have the choice of going by glass bottom boat so along the way you can view the marine life through the glass or jump in and snorkel with them!
We can visit the world-famous Hot Water Beach where you can dig your own spa pool in the sand as naturally heated mineral water bubbles up through the sand, sit back and relax while being only a few metres away from the Pacific Ocean.
Home to two marine reserves, you may be interested in scuba diving or snorkelling around these spectacular reserves and discovering the wide range of marine life. Or if you want to stay dry, how about going on a fishing charter? There are plenty of types of fishing on offer from chasing marlin and tuna to live baiting for kingfish and surfcasting from the beach for kahawai.
On the other hand, if you’re after some relaxation then you could visit the Lost Spring and relax in luxury thermal pools while enjoying soothing waterfalls and poolside service. You can also be pampered at the day spa, all while being amongst tropical surroundings.
We head to a Lord of the Rings fan’s dream location - the Hobbiton Movie Set, for your very own middle-earth adventure. Explore and learn behind the scenes secrets of scenes that were filmed here from both The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings trilogies. You’ll see hobbit holes and visit the mill, the party tree and plenty of other structures and gardens built for the films.
At the end of your tour you can relax at the Green Dragon Inn with a drink and a bite to eat.

Spend the night in Rotorua
The Great Lake Taupo has plenty of enjoyable water activities on offer from; kayaking, jet boating, jet skiing, white water rafting, parasailing, water skiing and wakeboarding. One of Taupo’s many natural wonders are some incredible Maori Rock Carvings that you can go and see either by taking a scenic cruise or sailing, while getting to enjoy beautiful panoramic views of the lake.
Fishermen and fisherwomen could enjoy a fishing charter around Lake Taupo. Or if you want to visit the ‘Trout Fishing Capital of New Zealand’ then we can head out of town to Turangi so you can experience the very best that New Zealand trout and fly fishing has to offer.
Taupo offers plenty of delicious wine and cuisine as well as boutique shopping if you are looking for a more relaxed afternoon. We can visit the iconic Huka Prawn Park if you’d like some mouth-watering prawn dishes for lunch.
For golf players, there are a range of courses for you to play on, including the famous Wairakei Golf & Sanctuary, which is one of the most popular golfing destinations in New Zealand. You can try the Hole in One Challenge where you have to hit a golf ball 100 metres over the lake and onto a floating pontoon.
To relax after a busy day exploring Taupo we can take you to a thermal hot pool, where you can enjoy the beautiful surroundings as you unwind.
There are some world-class mountain biking tracks you could spend the day exploring or for the adventurous, there is also bungy jumping, skydiving, and quad biking. You can take a scenic flight on a helicopter or floatplane for a spectacular viewing experience.
Spend the evening in Taupo.
You can spend today exploring the best of Taupo or if you are interested, we can take a day trip and make our way to New Zealand’s oldest national park - Tongariro National Park which stretches around three active volcanoes, Ruapehu, Ngauruhoe and Tongariro.
Tongariro National Park is home to the famous Tongariro Alpine Crossing, the best one-day hike in New Zealand and one of the best in the world. This trek features phenomenal volcanic scenery, where you will walk across a landscape of craters, lava flows, active volcanoes, mountain springs and emerald lakes and marvel at the stunning views of Lake Taupo and Mt Taranaki. The park also offers shorter walks to waterfalls and stunning volcanic features.
Partake in some white water rafting, kayaking, fly fishing or mountain biking while getting to explore the diverse and incredible landscape. Golf players may like to play a round at Waiouru golf course, New Zealand’s highest 18-hole golf course and has stunning views of Mt Ruapehu, Mt Ngauruhoe and Mt Tongariro from various parts of the course.
During the winter months you have the option of skiing or snowboarding at any of our three ski fields that Mount Ruapehu has to offer. Two of these ski fields are the largest in New Zealand and provide a wide range of terrain, from beginners to advanced skiers and snowboarders.
Lord of the Rings fans, we can organise an incredible tour for you where you can visit some of the locations where the trilogy was shot. Locations throughout Tongariro National Park were used and is home to Mordor, Mount Doom and Emyn Muil.
You can also visit the Mangawhero Falls where Gollum caught a fish in the pool at the top of these, and see the locations of Orc Country, Ithilien Camp, the door of Sammath Naur, and the Sea of Boulders.
If you have the means you can’t miss taking a scenic flight over Tongariro National Park that will allow you to see into the live craters of 3 mountains and provide you with breathtaking views of the national park's dramatic landscape including some incredible coloured mineral lakes that are situated on the mountains.
Accommodation in Taupo.
We head north through some of our rich farmland to the incredible Waitomo Caves. You can experience the natural beauty of these caves and be left breathless when you see the stunning glowworms that light up the caves like stars. Either take a guided tour where you walk through these magnificent caves and then float gently along on a small boat or for the adrenaline junkies, how about jumping, abseiling, climbing and black water rafting through this glowworm wonderland?
We then depart Waitomo and head back to Auckland where we will drop you off at your accommodation.
